Terms
Turnaround Period
We aim to turn cases around within 4 weeks, but we can usually report to you within 10 to 14 days. After a month has elapsed we will usually report a No Trace, unless protracted enquiries are ongoing, in which case we will try to advise you of the situation. If a particular case is *urgent then it will be given priority for a speedier return. For the avoidance of doubt, if an instruction is marked "urgent" or "priority", it will be treated as a Speedtrace* and will be charged accordingly.
Charges
Please refer to current price list. There is no charge for a 'No Trace'. Reduced rates may be negotiable for volume instructions.
Responsibility for Payment of Invoice
Beaumont Consultants Ltd holds instructing parties responsible for payment of their fees and disbursements, notwithstanding that such party is entitled to require a further party to reimburse it or is acting as an agent for a principal. We reserve the right to apply interest charges of 8% above the Bank of England Base Rate on a daily basis, under the Small Business Charter, on all invoices not paid within 30 days of invoice date.
Confidentiality
Enquiries are undertaken with the utmost discretion, and our clients' identities are never revealed unless we have expressed permission to do so. Similarly, we cannot reveal the sources of our information. Instructions are undertaken on the understanding that it will not be revealed to an enquiry subject that Beaumont Consultants Ltd carried out enquiries relating to that subject.
Re-checks
Our information is gathered from any of a number of **sources, and there may be the odd occasions when we might be given incorrect data. This could be because a debtor has left a false trail, or that a particular source's records have not been updated, or for some other reason. If within one calendar month of the date of our report you suspect that information supplied by us may be incorrect, then we will carry out a re-check. If it then becomes apparent that our original information was incorrect and you have paid for the trace, then a credit will be issued to your account or a refund made without quibble. If of course our original report was correct then we are sure that you will appreciate that we may have to charge again for our further report. Any queries or re-check requests received after one calendar month will be treated as a new enquiry. Please note that credits or refunds cannot be given unless the request to re-check has been received within one calendar month from the date of the report to which it refers.
'No-Trace'
If we report a 'No-trace', then you can be assured that we have contacted many sources but no positive information has been forthcoming. In some instances it may be worthwhile resubmitting the case a couple of months later. However, it has to be said that in offering a fixed fee, no success - no charge service for such a low price, these investigations rarely include field enquiries.
Field Enquiries
If we have reported a 'no-trace' on a particular person or persons, it may well be worth your while - if a debt warrants it - re-instructing us on a work done basis to a set fee limit, usually between £100 and £200. We have found that in cases where we have carried out in-depth field enquiries following a negative trace we are sometimes successful in tracking the subject/s down.
* 'Speedtrace' - A surcharge of £13.50 is made for urgent trace enquiries. The charge is only levied if we report to you within 48 hours of receipt of your instructions.
**None of the information supplied in our reports is obtained in contravention of The Data Protection Act 1984 or The Criminal Justice & Public Order Act 1994
